On the first weekend of September, Dessau shines brightly – at the annual Bauhaus Festival, the colour and light festival of the Bauhaus. A unique atmosphere is created with renowned artists, the town’s aura, the visitors and the different venues in and around the Bauhaus.

The Anhalt Theater opens its doors before the beginning of the festival and provides an insight into the upcoming season with an open-air performance. The Bauhaus festivals originated in the 1920s, when they promoted the exchange of information between the masters, the students and the Dessau population.
